The standing Neuropsychology Committee of the Tennessee Psychological Association (TPA-NC) focuses on professional development, research activities, clinical service, and education in neuropsychology to enhance the understanding of brain-behavior relationships and neuropsychological disorders within the Tennessee region.
Mission Statement
To fulfill its mission, the TPA-NC pursues the following objectives:
1. Ethics: Outline and encourage members to meet the profession’s highest ethical standards. Provide a forum for ethical consultation related to neuropsychological practice.
2. Professional Development and Practice: Provide a network to disseminate information, facilitate referrals, and support the practice of state neuropsychologists, with the goal of facilitating neuropsychological assessment, intervention, and consultation. Disseminate neuropsychological knowledge through in-person meetings and conferences, along with internet-based newsletters and publications. Advocate and support for board certification.
3. Research: Promote neuropsychological research in biological, translational, and clinical trial domains to improve knowledge within the clinical study of brain-behavior relationships.
4. Diversity: Promote understanding of individual and cultural diversity as it applies to the education, research, and practice of neuropsychology.
5. Training: Provide information on the field to students interested in neuropsychology and connect student-trainees with mentors, as well as early and mid-level clinicians with senior mentors.
6. Advocacy: Educate and advocate on behalf of the profession, practitioners, patients, and consumers.

Highlighted Activities:
The TPA-NC moderates a Neuropsychology Special Interest Group listserv for TPA members who are neuropsychologists or postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology. Discussion items cover a full range of professional, clinical, research, and academic topics.
TPA-NC teams are presently working on a number of additional projects:
· A Peer Consultation group that meets APA requirements to award participants CEs
· An ABPP Oral Exam preparation group, including mock exam options for those interested
· A Research Collaboration Consortium designed to connect investigators with colleagues interested in contributing to research projects
· A Tennessee-based mentorship program for neuropsychology student trainees
